In March of 2017, Paul Westervelt was hired as the pharmacist manager for Happy Druggist
Paul grew up in Westerville, Ohio and graduated from Westerville North High School in 2009. He attended Ohio Northern University and graduated with his PharmD degree in pharmacy in 2015.
While in college, Paul was active in the student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and served as treasurer for the Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP). While in pharmacy school, he participated in the college’s business plan competition with a team of classmates from Ohio Northern who made it to the top 10 nationally with their plan. They presented their business plan at the NCPA national convention in Austin, Texas in 2014. Their plan focused on opening an independent pharmacy specializing in HIV and hepatitis C patient care.
Due to his experience with NCPA and the business plan competition, Paul became interested in independent pharmacy. Following graduation from Ohio Northern, he began working at Gahm’s Pharmacy, an independent, in Lucasville, Ohio.
Paul said he has always had a goal of managing an independent pharmacy and was glad to be able to take the position at Happy Druggist. Being in West Jefferson allowed him to move closer to home. He feels very fortunate to be serving and working in the West Jefferson community.
Paul played soccer throughout high school and was involved in recreational basketball while at Ohio Northern. He also enjoys jogging and spending time with friends and family in the Central Ohio area.
Paul is a member of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA), Omicron Delta Kappa (national leadership honor society), and Phi Lambda Sigma (Pharmacy Leadership Society).
